Planted to remind our families of new life.

Gen 2:17 – “…but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die.”
My Question: If someone dropped a bottle that shatters at your feet, the sound may startle you. In fact, if you’re unprepared it may cause you to jump skip a breath. Now imagine you’ve heard and seen several bottles shattering for 10, 20, or 30 years. You wouldn’t flinch. Your body and mind has wired you to accept this happening and the fear of the shock decreases.
We can all easily agree that death is inevitable.
Death is the one certainty that life has shown us and never ignored- time and time again. No matter how much you love someone or how much you may have fast and prayed, people we love STILL die. Simply put, people die because God said people will. Ok, I accept that fact, especially being established by our Creator. But, still, why is death so hard to accept? However, just like my earlier bottle shattering example, death after death, our hearts continue to skip many beats, the loss feels unbearable, and the only thing left shattered over and over is our heart.
Matt 5:12 -“Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in Heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy…”
My Answer: We were not CREATED to die therefore Death is and will never be acceptable to us.
“God created man in his image.” – Genesis 1:27
God’s image is eternal, spiritual, and timeless. Our thoughts, although we KNOW we will one day all pass away, can’t really digest the thought of death. In fact, we can’t even say HOW we will die. Even though we know death is certain for all, when someone we love leaves this earth, we hurt. I found that this pain of loss is OK. For God even feels our pain. He placed these particular people around us for us to love and cherish them while they are here. God comforts us in our fleshly pain because he loves us. He then gives us the strength to stand up and go on. Stronger. Wiser. More sensitive to how precious time is. This is why we love God so much. Because just as he keeps his word in regards to ‘death’, God also keeps his word regarding ‘Everlasting Life’. Praise be to a promise keeping God.
